Covid19 Vaccine

High Mill Medical Practice will be administering the Oxford AstraZeneca covid19 vaccine to all those aged 80 and over as soon as possible. This is a good way to start the New Year and we are preparing for the delivery of this newest vaccine.

This vaccine has the advantage of being much easier to store and transport, which means it is easier to administer in local settings and to the people in the community aged 80 or over. When it is your turn to be vaccinated you will be contacted by the practice and we urge you to please take up the offer.

My name is Sister WENDY MACARTHUR and I’m an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the team at High Mill Medical Practice.

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is an experienced Nurse who has undertaken further specialist  training to become an expert in managing many chronic conditions such as, hypertension, asthma, COPD, Sexual Health/Contraception, Travel and Diabetes. This may include reviewing your blood test results, ordering further investigations and making changes to any medication that may be required.
I also deal with acute minor illnesses and emergency appointments which means I can diagnose many conditions like coughs, colds, sore ears, sore throats etc, therefore giving you advice on treatment and providing you with a prescription for any medication required , referring to secondary care or to arrange hospital admission.
If your condition is being managed by the Advanced Nurse Practitioner, your return appointments should be booked with the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and NOT the GP.
I also have TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS available.
If you wish to speak to me regarding a health matter and do not need to attend the surgery, please contact the reception team who will be happy to book for you to receive a telephone consultation during my clinic.
My ultimate aim is to develop a close long-term relationship with my patients and work in partnership with you to help achieve your optimum level of health.
